Our MLS PE stackers have been having a TON of FUN with our Sport Stacking unit this month. On Thursday, November 17, we participated in what Guinness Book of World Records terms the "World's Largest Sport Stacking Event" as our students had an awesome day doing stacking activities. Over half of our students participated in the festivities as they had PE on Thursday, with the rest of the students joining in the following day. All participants were given a sticker for participating.
For those new to our school this year, sport stacking has been termed a "track meet for your hands at warp speed" that has many benefits for our students. The benefits of stacking include improved hand-eye coordination, quickness, concentration, and focus! It is a great brain exercise as both sides of the body are working at the same time, improving our ambidexterity. We also have many fun ways to incorporate teamwork and fitness into our stacking as well. Ask any 3rd-5th grader if they like King and Queen of Cups, Stack Tag, or Table Tag and you will almost certainly get a yes! We also do partner stacking to promote teamwork and push-up stacks to improve upper body strength, just to name a few more!
We get MANY questions from our stack-crazy students asking where they can get their own cups. We have started our yearly group order and you can go online at any time and purchase the equipment. Group orders provide a win-win situation for all involved. The kids get their cups, parents get free shipping and handling, and MLS PE gets 10% of total sales to go towards more stacking equipment! Simply click on this link http://www.speedstacks.com/group_orders/students.php to go to the group order page and choose our state and school to take you to our group order store. We prefer you buy online, but there are pamphlets on the way that enable you to look at the products and send in a check if you wish. Contact us if you have any questions regarding the group order!
3rd-5th graders, get ready for the 4th Annual MLS Sport Stacking Tournament on December 16! We had over 100 students participate last year! We also have an Enrichment Zone class that will start at the end of January that is open to all stackers, K-5.
